Summary/Goals: Work with the USACE to develop measures of the value of restoration on the Middle Rio Grande.
Activities and outcomes during past year:
We have conducted two field survey campaigns in the Middle Rio Grande. The first was a pilot designed to test the survey instrument. The second involved eight distinct survey versions and was implemented in the field during the Summer of 2007. Our econometric results are very encouraging and will add to the small set of valuation studies that have been conducted on the Middle Rio Grande.
We have a draft paper in progress that we expect to submit in January 2007.
Plans for the upcoming year:
We expect to submit a manuscript to Restoration Ecology in January 2007.
We will explore the possibility of writing a paper based on some of the irregularities of the econometric procedure employed for the valuation process.
We will share results with the USACE and explore the possibility of going forward with a survey focused on the recreation aspect of restoration.
