Untitled Document Water, carbon, and nutrient flux in ephemeral channels in the San Pedro River Basin
Macro Theme Area: River Systems [Project ID: R24]
PI: Paul Brooks
CO-PI(s): Tom Meixner
Basin focus: N/A
Specific area in
basin /
field sites:
N/A
Summary/Goals:
We seek to idenitify how changes in land cover and land use affect the export of water, carbon and nutrients from upland environments to the San Pedro River
Activities and outcomes during past year:
Josh Koch completed his MS thesis in the summer of 2005. His data indicates that the encroachment of shrubs in the uplands of the San Pedro Basin have decreased soil water storage and altered N and C flux during summer storms

Plans for the upcoming year:
This project will be combined into ongoing research led by Tom Meixner coupling biogeochemical cycling and hydrology along the San Pedro River
