Summary/Goals: The goal of this project is to gain from prior research in the emerging field of integrated assessment and to develop a framework to this end for the integrated modeling activities and the development of SAHRA scenarios, particularly at the "scenario assessment" stage.
Activities and outcomes during past year:
Initial work focussed on surveying the literature in this relatively new field that is particularly strong in Europe. Part of this work was published in a IAHS RedBook chapter in 2005. Several presentations have been given at conferences (IAHS 2005 etc...thorsten, please provide details). We have been interacting with the scenario team on developing scenarios and running relevant worshops/meetings in the integrated assessment context.
Plans for the upcoming year:
The literature review will continue and communication with other research groups in the field of integrated assessment has been initiated. The next stages will include the development of a stepwise procedure to implement integrated assessment strategies, including a common glossary and definitions about what such a framework has to include in the context of the specific requirement and goals of SAHRA, e.g. the scenario analysis. Presentations will be given and workshops are being organized at international conferences (e.g., the iEMSs 2006 Summit) to establish SAHRA science as contributor to this field. Finally, interactions with SAHRA scenario development will continue.
