Activities and outcomes during past year:
In 2005, the research team conducted interviews with key parties to the Arizona Water Settlements Act and collected and reviewed dozens of legal documents comprising side agreements between the signatories to the agreement. In addition, the "Indian firming" process was carefully followed and documented as it pertains to implementation of tribal settlements.
There is a journal paper with Kathy Jacobs in preparation for the Journal of American Water Resources Association and a conference proceedings for the US Society of Irrigation and Drainage professionals May 2008 conference.

Plans for the upcoming year:
1) provide a written summary of water management provisions and impications for tribal entities and non-Indian water users regarding the Gila River settlement, leases and exchanges of Indian settlement water likely to be major components of future municipal water supplies, non-Indian agricultural water, and side agreements to the GRIC settlement; 2) summary of stakeholder perspectives regarding these issues; and evaluation of water management provisions pertaining to them.
