Summary/Goals: Develop and implement a single contact point for all persons and organizations in Arizona seeking water-related information, expertise, or data. Link a set of data bases on water expertise at the 3 state universities, water-related degree programs, short courses and field camps, research sites, laboratories, centers, organizations, data sources, and other information. Develop an interface so that people may access information via Web, email, or phone.
Activities and outcomes during past year:
Hired full-time staff person January 2005. Development of five of seven components, including expertise directory; degree programs; short courses and field camps, unique research facilities and laboratories; organizations and associations, and centers, as well as ties to existing databases is complete. Website went public on August 29, 2005, three weeks after endorsement by Governor Napolitano. 61% of water experts have updated their profiles. Entry of information into FAQ database was abandoned.
Original database updates occur as needed. Updates to all sections occur at least semi-annually.
Plans for the upcoming year:
Preliminary expansion of expertise and research facilities databases in progress in pursuit of SWEON project. (see project K59) Experts at several universities and agencies in NM, NV, TX, and CA have been entered, prototype website was developed for proposal/site visit demonstration.
