Summary/Goals:
A general education course offered through the UA Dept. of Hydrology and Water Resources for non-science majors. This course covers the entire southwest and tries to prepare students to address future issues as knowledgeable citizens. Topics include: Water issues, politics, basic surface and groundwater hydrology.
Activities and outcomes during past year:
Approximately 100 students took this course over the last year. The class web site continued to grow. The book "Cadillac Desert" by Marc Reisner and articles from Southwest Hydrology are being used to give the students historical backgroud. Lack of a suitable text continues to be a significant problem for students.

Plans for the upcoming year:
This Spring (2006), I will be mentoring two graduate students (Candice Marburger and Alison Williams) who want experience teaching a general education class. We will continue to develop and implement the new generic DSS water management model being developed by Kevin Lansey and Alison Williams.
Candice taught the class during the Fall 2006 - Spring 2007 period. I taught it again Fall 2007 and Spring 2008. I will probably skip Fall 2008 and teach Engr 102 instead.
